About Pulse Convert

Pulse Convert is a free tool that takes GTA5 mods from gta5-mods.com - vehicles and custom animation packs (weapon reanimations and other .ycd-based replacements) - and converts them into server-ready FiveM resources. Upload a file or paste a mod URL, and the pipeline handles the conversion, including auto-fixing the common bugs that most converters skip over and cause the mod to load incorrectly in FiveM.

Adding custom mods to a FiveM server should be straightforward. In practice, it often isn't. A download from gta5-mods.com comes in as a raw GTA5 mod, not a FiveM resource. The typical process involves unpacking the archive, restructuring the folder layout, generating manifests, and fixing metadata files - for vehicles, that also means texture dictionary splitting. Each of those steps has edge cases that break the result if not handled correctly.

Pulse Convert automates all of it. The output is a zip you drop directly into your server's resources folder with a generated server.cfg snippet. It also catches and fixes a set of known bugs that other converters either don't handle or handle incorrectly, resulting in mods that load with broken textures, get silently rejected by FiveM's resource loader, or fail to spawn entirely.

What the converter actually does

The conversion pipeline runs several shared steps on every job. It unpacks the archive, which is more involved than it sounds because some downloads from gta5-mods.com bury the actual mod inside a malformed nested archive that standard tools can't open. It then classifies the mod's contents and determines what kind of conversion is needed - vehicle or animation - before splitting into a category-specific pipeline.

For vehicles, it validates and cross-references the metadata files - vehicles.meta, handling.meta, carcols.meta, carvariations.meta, and load order. It patches problems it can safely fix automatically and logs every change. Oversized texture dictionaries are split and the references updated to match. If carvariations.meta is missing entirely, a working entry is generated automatically.

The animation pipeline is much lighter: no texture work, no addon-hash renaming (animation dictionaries aren't referenced by a per-item unique hash the way vehicle models are), just validating the .ycd animation files and any weaponanimations.meta, and dropping any animation dictionaries nothing actually references.

The final output is a valid FiveM resource: the correct folder structure, a fxmanifest.lua, all metadata files in order, and - for vehicles - textures split correctly. If you submitted multiple mods, they're all packed into one resource zip with a single server.cfg snippet covering all of them.

Bugs it fixes that others skip

Oversized texture dictionaries

Other converters split a too-large .ytd in two but leave the reference still pointing at the original name. The car loads with broken textures. Pulse Convert splits and relinks correctly.

Missing carvariations.meta

Many real downloads ship without a carvariations.meta. Without one, FiveM can silently refuse to register the resource at all. Pulse Convert detects the gap and generates a working entry automatically.

Corrupted nested archives

Some gta5-mods.com downloads bury the actual mod inside a malformed second archive that most tools fail to open. Pulse Convert recovers it instead of failing the job.

Orphaned animation dictionaries

A mod ships more .ycd animation files than it actually uses. Pulse Convert drops what nothing references instead of shipping dead weight in the final resource.

The catalogs

Beyond on-demand conversion, Pulse Convert maintains growing catalogs of pre-converted mods from gta5-mods.com - vehicles, and custom animation packs. If a mod you want has already been converted, you can download the ready-made resource directly from the catalog without waiting for a new conversion job.

The vehicle catalog is built proactively by crawling gta5-mods.com's vehicle listings. The animation catalog works differently: gta5-mods.com has no single clean listing page for that mod type, so it only grows reactively, one real conversion at a time. Vehicles in the catalog include screenshots from FiveM so you can see how they look in-game before downloading. A collision checker tool lets you verify that your chosen spawn name doesn't conflict with existing vehicles in your server's resources.

Part of the Pulse ecosystem

Pulse Convert is one product under PulseSystems, which builds free tools for FiveM and Discord roleplay communities. The others include PulseMDT (a law enforcement management system with NCIC lookups and shift tracking) and PulseOne (an all-in-one Discord bot with moderation, security, tickets, and roleplay tools). All are free.
